The Team
Dr Paul Coppens, DMV 1 , DipECVAA 2 (European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia), is a veterinary anaesthetist and paraglider pilot. Since the beginning of his career, he has been constantly striving to improve current anaesthesia practices. His involvement in air sports made him aware of the importance of safety culture at a very early stage. He initiated the prerequisites and the very first pre-induction checklist, recommended and published by the AVA 3 in 2008. He then collaborated on the development of the AVA checklist. He has participated in various training courses offered by the ESAIC 4 in the field of safety culture in human anaesthesia. Through his mobile anaesthesia unit, he has acquired a very good knowledge of the field.
Dr Emilio Feltri, DVM 5, is a valuable contributor to this project. A highly experienced veterinary anaesthetist, he is not only a pioneer of veterinary anaesthesia in Italy, but has also contributed and continues to contribute very actively to its development, making Italy one of the countries where veterinary anaesthesia is most widely practised. Dr Feltri and Dr Coppens are long-standing collaborators, having worked together since the early days of the AVA, among other things. They are two colleagues who regularly exchange ideas with the constant aim of bringing greater control and professionalism to the practice of veterinary anaesthesia.
Dr Emmanuelle Mathieu, DMV, also collaborates with Dr Coppens, with whom he has written two practical guides on anaesthetising dogs and cats. Together, they are preparing a third guide in collaboration with Dr Feltri.
Finally, to achieve our goal of launching this website and developing the companion application, our IT partner, Pascal Luxain, provides us with his indispensable professional skills.
